Precious and unique

White tea owes its name to the silvery-white fuzz that surrounds the buds of the tea plant. Only the closed buds are harvested by tea pickers and handled with the utmost care. Under controlled ventilation, the buds wither and are then briefly heated, similar to green tea, to prevent oxidation (=fermentation). This preserves the color and aroma. In addition to its distinctive, refined flavor, white tea contains immune-boosting compounds and, depending on how it is prepared, can have a calming or stimulating effect.
