Optimal preparation: 15 g Ceylon tea "Pekoe Lover’s Leap" for 1 liter of soft water / 100°C. Steeping time: 2 to 3 minutes.

Origin: Lover’s Leap

Lover’s Leap is not a standalone tea plantation, but a well-known division within the Pedro Tea Estate near Nuwara Eliya in the central highlands of Sri Lanka. The area is one of the highest tea-growing regions in the country, situated at an altitude of approximately 1,880 meters.

The historical foundation is the Pedro Tea Estate, whose development dates back to 1885. Lover’s Leap is closely associated with the famous waterfall of the same name. The name stems from a local legend about a couple who are said to have thrown themselves to their deaths there.

No reliable, separate data on total area, planted area, or annual production is publicly available for Lover’s Leap as a single division. Reliable production figures are generally only reported for the Pedro Tea Estate as a whole. However, data indicates an annual output of approximately 900,000 kilograms of tea.
