Teesta Valley Plantation

The Teesta Valley plantation is located in the Darjeeling region near Rangli Rangliot and is one of the older tea gardens in the region. Its name derives from the Teesta River. The plantation’s history dates back to 1841. In the years that followed, the garden was gradually expanded, making it one of the most historic sites in Darjeeling tea cultivation.

The plantation spans altitudes ranging from approximately 760 to over 1,900 meters. Its total area is reported to be around 717 hectares, of which about 297 hectares are dedicated to tea cultivation. Annual production is estimated at between 200,000 and 270,000 kilograms of tea, depending on the source.

Teesta Valley is one of Darjeeling’s well-known historic tea gardens. Its location on cool, sunny mountain slopes with fog, high-altitude air, and Himalayan influences continues to shape the region to this day. Due to its long history and size, the plantation is considered historically significant and steeped in tradition.
