Seeyok Plantation

The Seeyok Plantation is located in the Mirik Valley in the Darjeeling region, near the border with Nepal and not far from Sukhiapokhri. It is one of the region’s most historic tea gardens. The plantation’s history dates back to 1869, when it was founded during the British colonial era.

The tea fields are situated at altitudes ranging from approximately 1,100 to 1,800 meters. The total area of the plantation is about 406 hectares, of which roughly 160 hectares are planted with tea. Annual production ranges from approximately 60,000 to 70,000 kilograms of tea, depending on the source.

The plantation’s historical development also includes an early transition to organic farming. Seeyok is considered one of the older organically managed tea gardens in Darjeeling and has been operated according to relevant guidelines since the 1990s. Today, the plantation belongs to Tea Promoters India.

Due to its location in the Mirik Valley, its long history, and its early focus on organic farming, Seeyok is still regarded today as a traditional and historically significant plantation within the Darjeeling growing region.
